Grandma's 97th Birthday Celebration

4 Generation Photo

We enjoyed a delicious bbq rib and chicken dinner as a family.
Above is the family group photo. We were missing a few family members because of previously planned commitments that day, but this was a good representation.
My Uncle Gary's family (first-born son)
My Uncle Dale's family (second-born son).
My Dad Mark's family (Dad was the "baby" of the family).

It was such a blessing to gather together as a family to celebrate Grandma's 97 years of life. Words cannot adequately express how much I love her. She is such a lovely, classy lady. The life example she has given to us is such a gift!

More Fun at Grandma's

We traveled back to Grandma's house July 28-30 to celebrate my Grandma's 97th birthday. She turned 97 on Friday, July 29th and we gathered as a family on Saturday to celebrate. (More to see regarding the party in the next blog post.)

We had another fun time exploring at Grandma's, and enjoyed beautiful, sunny, warm weather. Here are a few photos of some of the pretty flowers in Mom's yard.

I can't end a blog post without posting some photos of the boys. Following are some of my favorites.

To Grandma's House We Go

After Bible Study Tuesday morning the boys and I along with Grandma Amy and Aunt Molly (my Mom and sister) travelled over the mountain to Grandma's house.

Here are the boys in the car cart at the grocery store that we hit before getting to Grandma's.David was getting tired and was bored sitting in his seat, so for the last 15 minutes of our drive, Aunt Molly let him "try on" her sunglasses.

Jay and David enjoyed riding on Grandma's tricycle, playing with all the metal "outside" truck toys, and getting a ride in the Radio Flyer red wagon.

While Jay helped Grandma water the garden and yard plants, David explored in the dirt, gravel, and mud. (For some reason he always had to "taste" the dirt!)
The highlight was having Jay receive a short ride on the tractor with my Uncle Dale.
Uncle Dale just did a short jaunt on the tractor to get it warmed up enough for him to be able to change its oil.
Below is David posed next to the tractor to give you a bit of a size perspective.
And here are some pictures of David "playing" Grandma's piano. From these pictures it looks like he'll be an excellent pianist someday, doesn't it? (Secretly, I certainly hope so!) Thanks for hosting us for a few days, Mom! We sure love spending time with you!

David's Dedication

This weekend was full of GOOD things - food, family, faith, and fellowship. It doesn't get much better than that!

Matt's sister Shawn, her husband Mike, and their boys Alex and Josh joined us Saturday morning. We decided to get out for a walk on that beautiful day to the local grocery store and a loop around the park.
To our pleasant surprise model hydroplane boat races were taking place on the park's pond, so we HAD to hang out there and watch those for a while. While watching the hydroplane boats, Matt's other sister Traci and her husband Keith and daughter Sydney (their other daughter Sam was at a friend's house for the day) joined us. We all walked from the park back to our little home for a bite of lunch. PopPop and Nana (Matt's Mom and Dad) arrived and it was a grand reunion as we celebrated Keith and Traci's return from living in Texas for 2-1/2 years.

We enjoyed hanging out together all day, finishing our day together with dinner at Panera Bread (my Mom Amy arrived in time to join us for dinner there.)

Here are few more candid photos from our weekend together. (Thanks, Shawn, for these pictures!)

Sunday morning we all gathered at our church to worship together and Matt and I had David dedicated.
